Barter virtual cards are digital cards issued by barter in partnership with MasterCard which can be used to pay for online purchases on merchant stores that accept MasterCard, fund barter wallet, and accept payments.

A virtual naira card is assigned by default to Barter naira wallets.

You can only create a virtual dollar and naira card and there’s no limit to the number of cards you can create, however, creating a new card comes with an issuance fee.

Ps: Your Barter wallet needs to be Naira to create a virtual Naira card and Barter does not currently support other local currency virtual cards.

How to create a virtual barter card?

To create a card, follow these steps:

• Click on cards on your dashboard on your barter account.
• Click on ‘New card’ (if you are using your mobile application this is at the top right corner of your screen)
• Click on choose a virtual card or gift card on your barter mobile app

Note: an OTP code may be required to authenticate transactions on the virtual dollar card. The OTP code will be sent as a push notification on your Barter app and email, not as an SMS/text message.

How to use your Barter dollar card

Barter dollar card can be used as any other dollar card issued by other digital and traditional banks, however, the only difference is where Barter dollar card is accepted and the billing address you should use when transacting (online payment) which will be explained below.

Where you can use your dollar Barter card

1. You can use your Barter card on most merchant sites where the MasterCard logo is displayed.
2. The Barter USD card can be used on most global payment sites like Uber, Google Play, Apple Music, Asos, Udemy, Coursera, AliExpress, Namecheap, Facebook, PayPal, etc. for payments and purchases.

Where you can’t or shouldn’t use your Barter cards.

1. Barter cards will not work on any Bitcoin, binary option, trading or money transfer websites, betting websites, or funding cryptocurrency websites as Barter cards are specifically designed for merchant payments.
2. The Barter Naira card can only be used on sites that make use of Flutterwave as their payment processor like Uber, ArikAir, Airpeace, etc.

Note: If your Naira card is rejected, it means the card is being used on a site that is not a Flutterwave merchant site.

Note: You should use your residential address as your shipping address to ensure goods/products are delivered to your exact location.

How to add your Dollar virtual card to Apple Music?

Please ensure that you have a dollar card created on your account, as that is the card to be used for such transactions.

To add your barter USD card to iTunes, kindly follow the steps below:

1. Open your App Store.
2. Click on the profile icon at the top right of the page.
3. Click on your Apple ID.
4. Click on Country/Region, and then click on Change Country or Region.
5. Select the United States as your country and agree to the terms.
6. After this add your card using the card details.
7. Where billing address is required, use the following details

8. After this, click on done.
9. Go to settings, click on Apple ID, then click on Payment & Shipping to confirm the card in your payment methods.

When you get the error ”contact administrator” code when you attempt a payment, what to do?

This simply means your account has been flagged for a variety of reasons. Send a mail to [email protected] with the following requirements, the masked PAN (first 6 and last 4 digits) of the last card used in funding your barter account, a picture of your valid means of ID, and a selfie of you holding both cards.

Change of cards.

As said earlier, Barter allows you to create multiple cards and also allows you to migrate to a new card even when the current one is not expired.
