Since Monday, several Android users have been complaining about apps like Gmail, and others, crashing on their devices.

Google, however, said that it is working on resolving the issue that caused Gmail and other Android apps to crash.

The problem, according to the official Android Twitter page, was caused by a bug in a previous version of Android System WebView.

Android System Webview is the system component that enables Android apps to display web contents.

Android System Webview is used by many app, however, the app crash issues only affected a number of apps.

While Google said it would deliver the solution to the devices automatically, it has also created a guide on how users can correct the crash without waiting for the automatic fix.

Many users went ahead to uninstall updates on Android System Webview, as suggested by Samsung Support US.

This fixed the issue for many users, but quite a number did not have the issue resolved, even after uninstalling the updates.

To correct the issue, Android users can follow the following steps:

  1. Open Play Store app.
  2. Search for Android System WebView.
  3. Select the “Update” option.
