#EndSARS: Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey Weighs In Support For EndSARS Protest

1 Mins read

Co-founder and CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, surprised #EndSARS protesters few hours ago when he posted a tweet in support of the social movement against police brutality in Nigeria.

Many protesters have been tagging and reaching out to prominent figures around the world to help amplify their request and push the hands of the government.

This movement got a boost when Jack Dorsey started by retweeting a couple of tweets with the #EndSARS hashtag.

Jack then proceeded to posting a tweet with the hashtag and a link to read more about the agitation of the protesters.

Aside tweeting in support the protest, Jack also posted a tweet, calling on philanthropists, and people around the world to donate Bitcoin to the protest.

Jack’s support to the #EndSARS protest came after rapper, Kanye West, lent his voice in support of the move to end police brutality in Nigeria.

Jack’s support was met with an wholesome applaud from protester who have been waiting for the CEO of Twitter to join their cause. However, a certain Adamu Garba seems to disagree, asking Jack not to interfere in Nigerian politics.

The #EndSARS protest began barely a week ago, when protesters gathered online to call on the government to end police harassment and brutality against citizens, especially young people, who are accused of criminality, battered, and in other cases, killed without an established crime.

The shameful act of brutality perpetrated by some members of the #EndSARS outfit of the Nigeria Police Force in Ugheli, Delta state, was the last straw that broke the silence of the people. In response to this, youths gathered on Twitter, and launched a campaign against the brutality faced in the hands of the police.

The agitation swiftly extended from social media to the street where protesters marched peacefully to show their displeasure, and call on the government to end SARS.
