Flutterwave was founded in 2016 by Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Olugbenga Agboola, and Adeleke Adekoya and is headquartered in San Francisco, California with operations in Nigeria, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, South Africa, and seven other African countries.
The American fintech company provides a payment infrastructure for global merchants and payment service providers across continents.
Flutterwave recently named Nigerian architect Olajumoke Adenowo as a member of its global board of directors; this comes as part of the company’s efforts to drive its international expansion strategy.
Olajumoke Adenowo is a seasoned professional with a successful career in architecture spanning over 35 years. Adenowo was one of Flutterwave’s first independent non-executive board members. The company in a statement on Monday stated, that the goal of including her on the global board of directors is to solidify the company’s pan-African and global positioning.
“Olajumoke’s insights and strategic vision will be invaluable assets as we continue to pioneer innovative solutions and drive impactful change across Africa and beyond,” Olugbenga GB Agboola, CEO and Founder of Flutterwave, said of the appointment.
Adenowo aims to leverage her “personal paradigm” and “global exposure” to enhance the company’s goal of connecting Africa with global markets. Leading a diverse portfolio of local and international projects at the architectural firm AD Consulting, she has made significant strides in her field. Adenowo made history as the first African and Black architect to be published by Rizzoli, thanks to her latest book titled “Neo Heritage: Defining Contemporary African Architecture.” Her outstanding achievements were further acknowledged when she was honored with the 2020 Forbes Woman African Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
CNN described her as “Africa’s Starchitect.”
