2 Mins read
  • WhatsApp's has been spotted to be redesigning its Android app, making changes to colors, icons, and buttons.
  • The impact of these design changes on the app's appearance in both light and dark modes.
  • Whatsapp also made Updates to the camera icon and call icons within individual chats and group chats.
  • There's also Plan to replace the iconic green bar at the top with white for dark mode.

WhatsApp is in the process of revamping its chat interface for both Android and iOS users, with changes that encompass colors, icons, and buttons. These updates aim to enhance the overall user experience and modernize the look of the popular messaging app. Here’s what you can expect from the upcoming redesign:

A Fresh Color Palette

One of the noticeable alterations in the works is a shift in the app’s color scheme. WhatsApp is introducing a new shade of green, slightly brighter than the current one, across the app. This change applies to both light and dark modes, making the interface visually appealing and refreshed. Even the floating action button at the bottom right corner of the screen and the WhatsApp logo at the top of the app will adopt this new green hue.

Redesigned Icons

Icons play a crucial role in user interaction, and WhatsApp does not overlook this aspect. In the latest beta version (2.23.20.10) of WhatsApp for Android, feature tracker WABetaInfo spotted a redesigned camera icon on the main chat screen on the horizon of the app’s interface that is still being developed by the Meta-owned chat platform. Furthermore, the solid icons representing video calls, voice calls, and the camera within individual chats and group chats are being replaced with sleeker outlined versions. These icon changes aim to provide a more streamlined and modern appearance.

Improved Dark Mode

Dark mode has become increasingly popular due to its visual appeal and potential battery-saving benefits on OLED screens. WhatsApp is making adjustments to its dark way to create a more cohesive and aesthetically pleasing experience. The changes include replacing the iconic green bar at the app’s top with white, allowing for a more consistent black or grey appearance when dark mode is enabled. This aligns the Android version of WhatsApp with its iOS counterpart.

Chat Filters

WhatsApp is also working on introducing chat filters to its Android and iOS apps. These filters, which include options like “All,” “Unread,” “Contacts,” and “Groups,” will help users better organize and manage their conversations. While the addition of chat filters is in the pipeline, there’s no specific timeline for when these features will be rolled out to WhatsApp users.

What’s Next?

As of now, the redesigned interface and feature updates are being tested in beta versions of WhatsApp for both Android and iOS. This means that the general WhatsApp user base won’t have access to these changes until they have undergone further development and testing. WhatsApp has a history of gradually rolling out new features and design updates, so it may take some time before these changes become widely available to all users.

WhatsApp’s commitment to refining its user interface and introducing new features reflects its dedication to providing a modern and user-friendly messaging experience. Keep an eye out for future updates to WhatsApp as the company continues to enhance its platform for its massive user base around the world.
