The latest version of OpenAI’s AI language model, Chat GPT-4, has caused raised concerns for workers in several industries. Chat GPT-4 AI language model is reportedly more sophisticated than its predecessor and can handle a wide range of tasks including generating text, answering questions, and providing recommendations. There are a lot of human executing jobs that the AI language model claims it can replace.
This revelation has gone viral on social media raising fears and a threat to careers. The list includes roles such as paralegal, copywriter, translator, news reporter, and travel agent. The AI language model said it could replace several skills required for these jobs, such as planning, fact-checking, proofreading, research, creativity, writing, and language proficiency.
While some social media users questioned the validity of GPT-4’s claims, many experts have warned of the impact it could have on the workforce. Allyn Robins, a senior consultant at Brainbox, recently told Newshub that the impact of GPT-4 is hard to overstate.
“Robins said that the system can do things that could previously only be done by humans, such as writing code and convincing texts. He added that “some people are going to lose their jobs over this because this is a tool that allows you to do tasks more quickly and easily and means you’ll need fewer people to get basically the same result.”
According to a recent study, 80% of the US workforce could have at least 10% of their tasks automated, and nearly a fifth could have at least half of their job automated. While some jobs are more at risk than others, it’s clear that the advancement of AI technology could have significant implications for the labour market. It remains to be seen how quickly and extensively AI will be adopted in different industries and what measures will be taken to mitigate the impact on workers.
Some other jobs GPT-4 says it can replace are Data Entry Clerk, Customer Service Representative, Bookkeeper, Translator, Analyst, Social Media Manager, Appointment Scheduler, Telemarketer, Virtual Assistant, Transcriptionist, Travel Agent, Tutor, Technical Support Analyst, Email Marketer, Content Moderator, Recruiter etc.
