It is getting hotter than it used to and colder than it ought to be. The norm has been shifted and the natural has been tampered with – Global warming.
Climate Change & Global Warming
Global warming refers to the rise in global temperatures due mainly to the increasing concentrations of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Climate change gives a broader insight into global warming. It refers to the broader range of changes that are happening to our planet. These include rising sea levels; shrinking mountain glaciers; accelerating ice melt in Greenland, Antarctica and the Arctic; and shifts in flower/plant blooming times. These are all consequences of global warming, which is caused mainly by people burning fossil fuels and putting out heat-trapping gases into the air.
The advent of the Industrial Revolution brought annual temperature has risen about 2 degrees Fahrenheit. Between 1880—the year that accurate recordkeeping began—and 1980, it rose on average by 0.07 degrees Celsius (0.13 degrees Fahrenheit) every 10 years. Since 1981, however, the rate of increase has more than doubled: For the last 40 years, we have seen the global annual temperature rise 0.32 degrees Fahrenheit, per decade.
As a result of man’s inalienable activities, the planet has never been hotter. Nine of the 10 warmest years since 1880 have occurred since 2005—and the 5 warmest years on record have all occurred since 2015 and it is getting even hotter.
