Online video sharing and social media platform, YouTube, has finally launched picture-in-picture feature for iOS.
The Google owned company announced in June that it would be bringing picture-in-picture to iOS. Now, it has delivered the much-demanded feature to its users.
It is worth of note that the feature is set to be available for a limited time only, and would only be activated for YouTube subscribers on the Premium package.
To get the picture-in-picture feature, YouTube premium users can open up a web browser and head to www.youtube.com/new.
Scroll down to “Picture-in-picture on iOS” and tap “Try it out.”
You will thereafter, be prompted to sign in to your account.
Once this is done, the premium subscriber can enjoy the picture-in-picture feature by playing any YouTube video, and navigating away from the app using the home button or by swiping up, and picture-in-picture will start.

If you lock your phone screen while watching a video, picture-in-picture will pause the video. The video can however, be resumed back through the lock screen media controls.
According to a report by 9to5Google, some users have been able to get the feature working on iPads as well as iPhones, but it seems access is a little unpredictable.
YouTube added that the feature will be “Available until 31 Oct.” It is however, unsure what happens after this date.
Hopefully, that will be when YouTube — as promised in June — will be bringing the feature to all users, and not paid users alone.
