WhatsApp adds feature that let you increase the speed of Voice Messages

WhatsApp has rolled out the feature that allows its users to control the speed of voice notes, popularly called VN.

The feature would empower users to set a personalized speed for voice messages, increasing the speed by up to three different speed levels.

Unfortunately, as many users would have wanted, the feature does not allow for the slowing down of voice messages.

It is general knowledge that people listen and speak at different speed, and this is extended to communication, through voice recording and listening.

Users would no more be forced to listen at the speed of the talker, as they could increase the speed of the recording to fit their need.

According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp started testing different playback speeds for voice messages last month.

WhatsApp has now added three different playback speeds for voice messages and in an updated UI.

WhatsApp beta users who are part of the test have had the playback speed symbol in a voice message for months now. There are three playback speeds of 1x, 1.5x and 2x.

The voice message will play normally but once you tap on the icon the speed will change. So the first tap will be to increase the speed by 1x, the second one by 1.5x and the third one by 2x. There’s no option for a slower playback speed for voice messages.

Although, the playback speed function seems to be rolling out to users worldwide, two different Android Police testers were unable to access the feature, even after downloading the official update.

The feature has been appearing and disappearing for some users, while others have not received it at all.

However, since it has been built into the latest official update (V2.21.9.15), which was released on the 14th of May, it would be delivered to users globally soon.
