Facebook Adds New Features To Its Mainstream Messaging Apps

1 Mins read

Facebook has announced that it is introducing a few new features to its messaging apps. One of the notable features include the addition of inbox seen state to Instagram.

With this feature, by simply looking at the inbox, users would know if the person they messaged has read the message, or not. This would make it handy for concerned users to find out if their friend or crush is ghosting them.

According to the official blog post, among the new features coming to Messenger is a swipe to archive gesture. This feature would help to make hiding old chats easier.

At the same time, the Facebook is working to make it less stressful to find the archived conversations.

Users need not search for the conversations anymore, instead, the message would be found through a menu item that can be accessed by tapping on the profile photo.

Facebook has been working on adding audio-related functionality to its apps, since Clubhouse became a household name. The quest to have such feature has not been shelved.

Next time users send a voice memo to a friend over Messenger, they will not be required to hold the record button. Instead, they will only have to tap the dedicated mic icon. Facebook added that this feature is also coming to Instagram soon.

The social media giant is also making it possible for Instagram users on iOS (and soon Android) to reply to photos and videos with their own images and clips.

This means that you can pull a specific message to the right to tell your friend you’re responding to that specific part of the conversation, and respond with a photo or video.

Facebook has also added two new chat themes to Facebook Messenger and Instagram. Of the two chat themes, one was designed for all the Star Wars fans, while the other is tied to the second season of Netflix’s Selena Quintanilla biopic.

Both chat themes feature light and dark themes, and can be found by digging into your chat settings.
