Twitter To Conclude Fleets Rollout By Weekend

1 Mins read

Following the rollout of Twitter Fleets, and the issues that came with it, Twitter has come out to say, through its product chief, that it has resolved most performance issues with its new ephemeral “fleets” product, and expects to complete the global launch by Friday.

As we were rolling out over the first 24 hours, we stumbled into some load performance issues. We have since caught most of the issues that were concerning us in terms of slowing down the rollout … we’re hoping that, certainly in the next 24 hours, pretty much everyone will have it.” – Kayvon Beykpour, Twitter Product Lead.

Twitter product lead also acknowledged the privacy and security concerns that some early adopters raised about fleets, and tweets that disappear automatically after 24 hours. He however said those issues would likely be addressed in subsequent updates.

Twitter began the global rollout of fleets on Tuesday, after first testing it in a few countries. The microblogging site later slowed the rollout in order to fix performance and stability issues.

Majority of Nigerian users starter receiving the upgrade last night, and many swooped into testing their hands on the new feature.

Beykpour noted that Twitter cannot promise that all the instabilities would disappear with an overnight quick fix, but he assured that the company is actively thinking about it.
