The Future Of Work In Industry 4.0; NDES2020

1 Mins read

The Nigeria Digital Economy Summit is a privately funded, Public-Private Partnership (PPP) forum to support Nigeria’s digital transformation into a leading digital economy. NDES is in its second year after a successful launch in 2019 with Jack Ma, Alibaba, attending alongside other partners: Embassy of Sweden; Facebook; Mastercard, and Bank of Industry amongst many others.

NDES2020 will take place as a virtual event on 12th November, with the theme: “Future of Work in Industry 4.0”. The concept of the ‘Future of Work’ concerns the nature of the jobs of the future, how we can prepare the youth in acquiring the right skills, and the role we have in shaping outcomes such that the Fourth Industrial Revolution brings increased opportunities for all.

NDES will collaborate with both Federal and State Governments to develop the different levers (Entrepreneurship, Skills, Finance, Infrastructure, and Platforms) that are critical to the development of a robust digital economy.
Nigeria will be able to leverage the innovation and creativity of its youthful population – a key asset for the Knowledge Economy- in order to harness unprecedented opportunities brought about by the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

It is expedient that we develop Nigeria’s digital economy as it creates opportunities for learning new skills, extending market reach, and creating new jobs that can bring about economic prosperity for millions. This is crucial to Nigeria’s GDP growth, irrespective of shortcomings in traditional infrastructure.

As part of the NDES2020 event, NDESWomen (https://www.ndes.org.ng/ndes-women) in collaboration with Foresight Seeds Fund (https://www.foresightgroup.ng) will be launching an Accelerator Program for Purpose-Driven Female Startup Founders to help discover the next 5x Women with the most thought-provoking and tech-driven innovations. The event is being supported by our partners – Bank of Industry, Schneider Electric, and TAJ Bank. The 5 finalists will be selected by an independent panel of judges and will receive coaching, funding support, and mentoring to help execute and scaleup their startups.
