The Nigerian government has received a ₦1 billion grant from Airtel Africa Foundation to support the 3 Million Technical Talent (3MTT) program, marking a significant step in developing the country’s digital workforce.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, announced the grant will enable hands-on training, community engagement, and job placement for over 25,000 Nigerians with in-demand technical skills.

The initiative, part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, aims to bridge the digital divide and position Nigeria as a global technology leader. The program will focus on skills including Digital Marketing, Project Management, Cloud Platform Navigation, Data Analysis, and UX/UI Design.
Dr. Segun Ogunsanya, Airtel Africa Foundation’s Chairman, described the grant as a “strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce and prosperity.”
This is not the first major support for the program. In November 2023, the government secured another N1 billion partnership with IHS Towers to establish learning communities nationwide.

The 3MTT program has already made significant progress, starting with 30,000 participants in its first cohort and expanding to 270,000 in the second. A recent third cohort added 90,000 more participants, bringing the total to 415,000 – nearly 14% of the ambitious 3 million target.
With this latest grant, the government continues to invest in building Nigeria’s technical talent backbone, creating opportunities for youth to become leaders in the digital revolution.
