The FBI has established a dedicated task force to investigate a growing number of violent incidents targeting Tesla properties across the United States, marking an escalation in efforts to address what authorities are calling “domestic terrorism.”
The task force, working alongside the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, comes in response to a series of attacks including arson, vandalism, and property damage at Tesla dealerships, vehicles, and charging stations.
According to law enforcement sources, at least 48 to 80 incidents have been reported across nine states since January. These attacks have primarily occurred overnight and appear to be carried out by individual perpetrators.
A recent incident in Austin, Texas, underscored the escalating tension. Local police discovered multiple incendiary devices at a Tesla dealership, which were safely removed by the bomb squad.
The attacks seem linked to protests against Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s involvement in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). A group called “Tesla Takedown” has organized protests, though they emphasize their commitment to nonviolent action.
FBI Director Kash Patel stated firmly, “This is domestic terrorism. Those responsible will be pursued, caught, and brought to justice.”

The Justice Department has begun prosecuting individuals involved in these attacks, with Attorney General Pam Bondi describing the actions as “domestic terrorism.”
Tesla and Musk have condemned the violence, with Musk calling the attackers “psycho” and urging them to stop.
The FBI has urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities near Tesla properties.
