The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Ethiopia’s Ministry of Industry have unveiled the timbuktoo ManuTech Hub, an initiative aimed at transforming Africa’s manufacturing landscape through technological innovation.
Set to be established in Addis Ababa by early 2025, the hub will serve as a pan-African center for supporting startups developing cutting-edge manufacturing technologies. The Ethiopian government will provide the physical space, underscoring its commitment to becoming a light manufacturing hub for the continent.
Startups from across Africa can apply for the bi-annual program, which offers a comprehensive three-month acceleration experience.
Selected participants will receive:
- Hybrid training programs
- Expert mentorship
- Access to technological resources
- Seed grants to support their innovations

This initiative aligns with Ethiopia’s ambitious “Vision 2025” to boost its manufacturing sector. Despite having invested $1 billion in 18 industrial parks, the country has faced challenges in achieving its manufacturing goals. The ManuTech Hub represents a strategic approach to addressing technical and managerial expertise gaps.
