CuspAI Garners $30M In Seed Funding

CuspAI, based in Cambridge, UK, specializing in AI-driven material sustainability solutions, has successfully secured $30 million in Seed funding to advance its operations and development initiatives.

Hoxton Ventures led the funding round, joined by Basis Set Ventures, Lightspeed Venture Partners, LocalGlobe, Northzone, Touring Capital, Giant Ventures, FJ Labs, Tiferes Ventures, Zero Prime Ventures, as well as individual investors Mehdi Ghissassi and Dorothy Chou.

CuspAI under the leadership of CEO Dr Chad Edwards employs generative AI, deep learning, and molecular simulation to streamline material design processes. Their platform functions like a materials search engine, enabling customized requests for specific material properties, thereby encouraging rapid generation and evaluation of diverse structures to discover materials with precise functionalities.

CuspAI has also partnered with Meta to enhance its open science efforts focused on developing new materials aimed at addressing climate change.

The company was co-founded by Professor Max Welling, an AI pioneer and former Distinguished Scientist and VP at Microsoft Research and Qualcomm, currently a professor at the University of Amsterdam. Dr. Chad Edwards, with extensive experience in deep-tech commercialization at Google and BASF, and recently with quantum computing leader Quantinuum, also co-founded the company.

This funding round marks a notable step forward for CuspAI in advancing sustainable material solutions through cutting-edge AI technologies.
