Microsoft Copilot is now available on Telegram, bringing the tech giant’s artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot to the popular messaging app. Launched on Tuesday, this integration allows Telegram users to chat with Copilot, ask questions, and search the internet directly through the app. While currently in beta, this feature is accessible to all users for free, with a daily limit of 30 interactions (30 back-and-forth messages) with the AI.

How to Access Copilot on Telegram

There are two simple ways to access the Copilot chatbot:

1. Visit Microsoft’s dedicated microsite for the feature and click the ‘Try Now’ button to be directed to the Telegram app, where you can find the Copilot chatbot.
2. Alternatively, you can manually open the Telegram app and search for Copilot. Ensure you select the authentic Copilot chatbot by looking for a blue check mark next to the name to avoid malicious replicas.

Copilot for Telegram Features

Currently, Copilot functions as a text-based chatbot and does not generate images. It can, however, browse the internet and answer web-based queries. Microsoft recommends using the AI bot for various purposes such as finding cheat codes and walkthroughs for video games, movie suggestions, dating tips, recipes, live scores, personalized playlists, and more.

Interacting with Copilot is straightforward, especially for those familiar with using bots on Telegram. If you’re new to this, you can use the “/ideas” command to get examples of what the AI can do. The “/restart” command clears the current context and starts a new interaction. These and other helpful commands are shown when you first enter the chat with Copilot.

Before you can interact with the chatbot, you need to register using your phone number. While this might raise privacy concerns for some users given Telegram’s privacy-focused reputation, Microsoft addresses these worries on its microsite, stating, “Copilot on Telegram relies on the same safety infrastructure as the Microsoft Copilot experience.”
