WhatsApp to Now Allow Web Users to Search Messages by Date

WhatsApp, the widely-used messaging platform, is introducing a new feature for its web client. This feature, currently available on the latest beta version of WhatsApp Web, enables users to search for messages based on the specific date of sending or receiving. This addition is a practical solution for users who might not remember specific keywords to search for but have a general idea of when the message was exchanged. Moreover, it will aid users in locating messages with non-text content, such as videos and voice notes.

This feature was spotted by WABetaInfo on WhatsApp Web Beta 2.2348.50. It involves the integration of a calendar icon for date-based message searches in the web client. Although it’s currently accessible to a select group of users on the latest beta version of WhatsApp Web, its wider availability might take some time. Unfortunately, Gadgets 360 was unable to verify the feature in the latest WhatsApp Web Beta client.

For users, this new “search by date” feature offers a convenient way to find messages by specifying the date they were sent or received. Clicking on the recently introduced calendar icon opens a calendar view, allowing users to pick a specific date. Once chosen, the feature will display messages exchanged on that particular day.

WhatsApp is continuously working on enhancing its features and functionalities. Another recent addition being tested in WhatsApp’s iOS and Android apps is email verification. This feature will enable users to verify their email addresses within the app, providing an alternative method of logging into the platform. This could be especially useful in situations where users lack cellular reception and cannot receive a login OTP.

Additionally, WhatsApp is developing the capability to share polls in channels. This feature will differ from the polls shared in group chats in that it will maintain the anonymity of voters, aligning with the company’s commitment to safeguarding user privacy. As WhatsApp evolves, it aims to provide users with a more versatile and user-friendly messaging experience, catering to their diverse communication needs.
