2 Mins read

WhatsApp, the popular messaging platform, has commenced the rollout of Companion Mode for iOS users, bringing multi-device connectivity to the platform. The feature, which allows users to link up to four additional devices, including smartphones, enables seamless message synchronization across all linked devices. Initially available to WhatsApp beta testers on Android, Companion Mode is now being widely released as part of the latest update for iOS users.

Expanding Multi-Device Connectivity:

The rollout of WhatsApp Companion Mode on iOS was spotted by feature tracker WABetaInfo. The Meta-owned messaging service is now rolling out an update to WhatsApp for iOS 23.10.76 via the App Store, which adds an option to link your iPhone with another, “primary” smartphone. This functionality significantly enhances convenience and flexibility by enabling message delivery across multiple devices simultaneously.

Simple Setup Process

To establish the link between an iPhone and another smartphone, users can easily follow a few simple steps.

  1. Install or update WhatsApp to version 23.10.76.
  2. iPhone users can open the app and select the “Link this device to an existing account” option, which generates a QR code.
  3. Open WhatsApp on your primary smartphone and tap the settings (iOS) or the three-dot menu icon (Android) and tap on Linked Devices and
  4. select “Link with QR code.”
  5. Scan the QR code displayed on your iPhone using your other smartphone to complete the linking process.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

One of the notable advantages of WhatsApp’s Companion Mode is its cross-platform support. This means that users can link their iPhones to existing WhatsApp accounts on Android devices, and vice versa. While the secondary device may have limited access compared to the primary smartphone, it allows users to access chats and archived conversations on any linked device. This feature adds convenience for individuals who utilize multiple devices or switch between platforms.

Enhanced Connectivity and Accessibility

With Companion Mode, WhatsApp users can enjoy increased connectivity and accessibility across their devices. By linking up to four additional devices, individuals can stay connected and receive messages seamlessly, regardless of the device they are using at a given moment. This feature is particularly useful for individuals who prefer to access their WhatsApp conversations on tablets, secondary smartphones, or other devices.

The introduction of WhatsApp’s Companion Mode to iOS users marks an important milestone in enhancing multi-device connectivity and convenience for millions of users. With the ability to link multiple devices, including smartphones, individuals can stay connected and receive messages effortlessly across various platforms. This expansion of Companion Mode demonstrates WhatsApp’s commitment to delivering a seamless messaging experience, empowering users to stay connected with ease. As the feature continues to roll out widely, users can look forward to an even more versatile and interconnected messaging experience on WhatsApp.
