One of the most talked about subjects in the technology space right now is OpenAi’s ChatGPT-3. This technology has garnered so much traction and attraction compelling all and sundry to want to explore, integrate and identify with it.

ChatGPT-3 is a natural language processing (NLP) tool powered by AI technology that enables users to have human-like conversations, answer questions, and assist in tasks such as composing emails, essays, and writing computer codes. ChatGPT-3 is said to be the fastest-growing app of all time.
Launched on Nov. 30, 2022, it had more than 1 million users in the first five days after its launch and in January i.e two months after its launch, UBS analysis estimates that ChatGPT had 100 million active users. This same feat took nine months TikTok to achieve.
Google boss Prabhakar Raghavan in a German newspaper Welt Am Sonntag on Saturday issued a statement warning users against the over-reliance on this new piece of technology. In his words, he said that “This type of artificial intelligence we’re talking about can sometimes lead to something we call hallucination, this is then expressed in such a way that a machine delivers a convincing but completely fictitious answer.”
“The huge language models behind this technology make it impossible for humans to monitor every conceivable behaviour of the system,” Raghavan added. “But we want to test it on a large enough scale that in the end, we’re happy with the metrics we use to check the factuality of the responses.
We are considering how we can integrate these options into our search functions, especially for questions to which there is not just a single answer. Of course, we feel the urgency, but we also feel the great responsibility. We hold ourselves to a very high standard. And it is also my goal to be a leader in chatbots in terms of the integrity of the information but also the responsibilities we take- He added ”
This is the only way we will be able to keep the trust of the public.
Beyond the fascinating experience and the usefulness of this novel technology, it is not without its limitations.
Some of it’s limitations include:
It’s the inability to answer questions that are framed in a specific way, as it requires one to reword the question before one could understand the input question. Another limitation is its lack of quality in the responses it delivers.
Critics stress that the chatbot is just very good at arranging words into an order that makes sense from a statistical point of view, but may not understand the meaning or know whether the assertions it makes are valid.
Finally, ChatGPT’s data is limited to 2021. Hence The chatbot does not have any knowledge of events or news that have transpired since then.
