How to Block Sites From Sending You Notifications on Chrome

Google Chrome is a free web browser available for Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS. Chrome is also one of the most popular web browsers Due to its Google integration, wide range of extensions, ease of use, and other features. Furthermore, it is capable of displaying notifications from a variety of websites. You’ll often get pop-up notifications while browsing through websites asking for your permission to send notifications. Google Chrome has pretty much the same functions on different desktop platforms, and so disabling notifications from websites on Windows, Mac, and Linux have the same steps. They are, however, slightly different for the mobile version of Chrome and further vary for Android and iOS.

To block sites from sending you notifications on Google Chrome, follow these steps:

Steps to block websites from sending notifications on Chrome for desktop

  1. Open Chrome on your desktop.
  2. Click on the three-dot menu on the top right next to your profile icon.
  3. Click on Settings.
  4. Click the Privacy and Security menu on your left-hand side.
  5. Scrowdown to Site settings
  6. In Site Settings, scroll down to Notifications.
  7. You will see a toggle for “Sites can ask to send notifications.” Turn it off.

How to block websites from sending notifications on Chrome for Android 

  1. Open Chrome on your Android device. 
  2. Click on the three-dot menu on the top right. 
  3. Tap on Settings
  4. Scroll down to Notifications and tap on it. 
  5. Scroll down to Sites and disable “All ‘Sites’ Notifications.” 

How to block sites from sending notifications on Chrome for iOS 

  1. On your iOS or iPadOS device, open Google Chrome. 
  2. Tap the More button on the bottom-right. 
  3. Tap on Settings
  4. Tap on Content Settings
  5. Now tap on Block Pop-ups
  6. Turn Block Pop-ups Off from here. 

Note that these steps may vary slightly depending on your version of Chrome and the operating system you are using.

Once you have blocked a site from sending notifications, you will no longer receive pop-up notifications from that site. You can always unblock a site by returning to the “Notifications” section of the “Site Settings” page and clicking on the “Blocked” tab. From there, you can select the site and click on the “Unblock” button.
