Twitter to Relaunch Twitter Blue; Apple Users to Pay $11 per month.

In November, Twitter relaunched Twitter Blue but paused it As fake accounts impersonating brands mushroomed on the platform causing uncontrollable chaos.

In a tweet on Saturday, Twitter Inc said it would relaunch its Twitter blue subscription service on Monday with a higher price for Apple users.

The company said users can subscribe to the revamped service Through the Web for $8 per month, while Apple iOS users can subscribe for $11 per month. The revamped Twitter Blue will allow users to edit tweets, upload 1080p videos, and get a blue checkmark post account verification.

Twitter did not explain why Apple users were being charged more than others on the Web but Twitter and Apple have been at loggerheads on the 30% charge Apple charges software developers for in-app purchases and there have been media reports that Twitter was looking for ways to offset fees charged in the App Store.

The 30% in-app purchase fee has drawn criticism and lawsuits from companies such as Epic Games, the maker of Fortnite, while attracting the scrutiny of regulators globally.

Moreover, the commission might weigh in on Musk’s efforts to boost subscription revenue at Twitter, partly to compensate for the loss of advertisers due to content moderation concerns.

He had then in a series of tweets accused Apple of threatening to block Twitter from its app store and also said that the iPhone maker had stopped advertising on the social media platform.

Musk later tweeted that the misunderstanding about Twitter’s removal from Apple’s App Store had been cleared up after a subsequent meeting with Apple chief executive Tim Cook.

Both Twitter and Apple did not respond to Reuter’s request for comments.
