Chinese Startup INMO Debuts Wireless AR Glasses

Metaverse is the new digital world that will incorporate the physical, virtual and Augmented realities into one with the use of cutting-edge technologies such as VR (Virtual Reality), AR (Augmented Reality) and MR (Mixed Reality) wearables. These technologies will hence usher us into a world without geographical limits and immersed social interactions.

The social media giant Facebook took the first step on this metaverse journey when it announced its change of company name to Meta in readiness to explore the alluring potentials of the Metaverse. Ever since we have witnessed a surge in tech startups on this Metaverse journey.

VR, MR and AR wearables amongst other technologies are pivotal to actualising this Metaverse experience; hence remain the pathway to the development of the Metaverse.
En route this Metaverse journey is the Chinese startup INMO which has begun taking orders for their second generation of Virtual reality glasses.

INMO
INMO
was derived from “In Mirror”, which signifies entry to the mirror world. Established in 2000, the Shenzhen-China-based tech company Specializes in AR products. Inmo said it is committing itself to creating Gen-Z’s favourite cutting-edge smart glasses and quickly becoming a global leading brand of smart glasses development.

INMO is now retailing the second-generation AR glasses, called INMO Air 2, and a smart ring called INMO Ring. The INMO Air 2 is wireless, lightweight, and offers full-colour visuals and simultaneous localisation and mapping, a technology that allows robots and autonomous vehicles to build a map and locate themselves at the same time.

Compared with the first-generation AR glasses released last year, the INMO Air 2 is nearly 30% lighter and its frame thinner. The INMO Air 2 also has more functions than the previous model.

The company says combining the INMO Air 2 and the INMO Ring will allow users to play videos, browse documents and switch among different apps simply by touch, the same way they would operate a remote control.

Apart from recreation, the INMO Air 2 can also be used for work meetings, emails, document processing, and taking photographs. Outdoors, the INMO Air 2 can plot routes and can be used by walkers, runners and cyclists.

INMO is retailing the INMO Air 2 at a fixed price of 3,999 yuan ($565) including the smart ring and started taking orders for them this month.

The Shenzhen company is said to have raised a total of more than 100 million yuan in three funding rounds from investors including well-known Chinese firms, such as Matrix Partners China, 37 Interactive Entertainment and Unity Ventures.

As I conclude, you can’t afford to be uninformed, ill-prepared and caught unaware in this technological wave that is sweeping through every facet of our lives and out to change everything – Metaverse.
