Kenyan-based e-Logistics Startup – Lori – Appoints Uche Ogboi as CEO

Lori Systems has announced the appointment of Uche Ogboi as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

The appointment of Uche Ogboi is scheduled to take effect from the 1st of July, 2021.

In a blog post, co-founder and the outgoing CEO, Josh Sandler, indicated that he would be moving to on to serve in the Executive Chairman capacity of the board.

Incoming CEO, Uche Ogboi, was appointed as Lori’s Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2019. Prior to that, she seeved as the Principal, Investments, at EchoVC Partners – a Pan-Africa and tech-enabled venture capital firm which is also one of Lori’s investors.

Commenting on the appointment, Outgoing CEO, Josh Sandler, said that:

Uche is a powerhouse. Her structured systems-level approach, combined with a strong vision, empathetic leadership, and relentless drive to execute, make her a force for innovation and company momentum. She helped our team mature, grow, and expand across East Africa, West Africa, and now Southern Africa.

Sandler also noted that Uche has been responsible for growing the business up to ten times in less than a year.

Sandler added that Uche has worked on improving Lori’s loading times and border crossings from 72 and 48 hours, respectively, to 6 hours.

The present CEO also commended Uche for executing a 40% cost saving process across the organization.

Sandler, when commenting on his reason for stepping down, said

It is both the easiest and hardest decision I have ever made. Easy, because I could not be more confident that Uche is the right person to lead Lori. Difficult, because being Lori’s CEO has been such a core part of my identity. But this is the right decision for Lori and for myself. I’ve never been more excited about Lori’s road ahead and I will continue to support Uche, our team, partners, investors, and customers as Executive Chairman in every way I can.”

Lori is a startup that is building cutting-edge logistics infrastructure for trucking in Africa. It was founded by Josh Sandler and Ernest Gichini Ngaruiya, in 2016.

Lori’s tech-enabled and operations-driven marketplace efficiently connect transport to cargo. The supply chain management system brings transparency, and pushes significantly improved flexibility, and reliability.

According to the start-up, Lori saves up to 18% on cost of operations.
