Many Twitter users are conscious of the amount of data they burn on scrolling through their timeline. While many might have the luxury of unlimited Wi-Fi, many still have to purchase data with the last coin in their wallet.
You might also find yourself with a slow internet connection, and would want to maximize the connection – we all know that slow internet can drive people insane.
To those that have to use mobile data for their Twitter app, and would like to reduce the data usage to the barest minimum, you might consider going through the following steps to reduce data usage.
Step 1:
Open the Twitter app, and tap on the three stripes (profile picture, or Hamburg icon on iOS) on the top left corner of the screen.
Step 2:
Scroll down through the tap, and tap the “Settings and Privacy” tab.
Step 3:
In the “Settings and Privacy” tab, tap on “Data Usage.”
Step 4:
Locate the “Data Saver” tab, and toggle it on.
As soon as Data Saver is activated, you can go back to your timeline, and the settings would take effect immediately.
Perhaps, you feel like burning more data, or you find yourself with a connection with higher bandwidth, you can always switch off Data Saver.
Note that, to reduce your data usage, Twitter app would have to stop auto-playing videos, and load low quality images first. You would have to manually load high quality images, and play videos when you need to.
