In line with Wema bank’s support for the application of technology in solving problems in different fields, the organization has called for application from interested teams to participate in its Innovation Challenge.
The challenge, which is in its second edition, is codenamed Hackaholics 2.0.
Occasioned by the coronavirus outbreak which has affected the way things are being conducted globally, Hackaholics 2.0 will be held virtually. Participants are expected to register their pitch via a dedicated online platform.
The bank now calls on qualified entrants to pitch their technology based solution for problem in fields ranging from Health-tech, Agric tech, Edutech, Financial technology services, and Gaming & Betting.
The head of the innovation team at Wema bank, Samuel Omotayo, commented on the challenge, and said:
“We are very excited to be hosting another innovation challenge aimed at solving problems in essential areas; in a bid to further strengthen technology penetration in solving problems within communities, grow business owners and technology start-ups which would eventually help with the recovery process of the economy from the impact of the pandemic. We are calling on businesses, creative thinkers, tech enthusiasts, industry specialists and engineers to join us in this quest.”
Wema bank will be partnering with GreenHouse Capital Africa, and Venture Garden Group to select ideas and solutions that would be viable in the fields in focus.
For this edition of the innovation challenge, 10 start-ups each stand a chance of getting up to $4,000 in business support with awesome benefits like access to market, direct link to industry experts, mentor network, access to APIs among other resources.
Pitching will be open from the 30th to the 31st of October, 2020; while the boot camp opens on the 5th of November.
