How to transfer WhatsApp chats between iPhone devices.

Source: WhatsApp

Did you just get a new iPhone and you’re bothered about losing the precious chats you have on your old iPhone?
No, worry not. It is as simple as changing the channel from NTA to HipTV.

The process of transferring your chats from one iPhone to another is similar to the way chats are transferred from one Android device to another. Read about how to transfer chats from an Android device to another Android device here.

To transfer your chats from one iPhone to another iPhone, follow the following steps.

Step 1
The Old iPhone

Ensure that your device is connected to iCloud, and that you are duly signed into your iCloud account. Also, make sure WhatsApp has permission to access iCloud storage.

To do this, open the settings on your iPhone, click on your username, and click on iCloud. Sign in, if you are not signed in already.
Turn iCloud on. Scroll down, and check if WhatsApp is on. If it is not, then turn it on.

Step 2
The old iPhone

Open the WhatsApp app.

Open WhatsApp “Setting”. Click on “Chats”. Click on “Chat backup”.

If you want WhatsApp videos to be included in the backup, then toggle “include videos” on, if it’s not on.

Click “Backup now”.

This step will upload your WhatsApp message to the iCloud server.

Step 3
The new iPhone

Follow step 1 again to setup your iCloud account on the new iPhone. Make sure you use the same login details used on the old iPhone.

Once iCloud is set up, go to the App store, and install WhatsApp.

Open WhatsApp, enter your number (same number used on the WhatsApp on the old iPhone, if you enter a different number, the transfer will not work).

When you’re prompted to restore chat, click “Restore Chat History”.

Wait for the process to complete. Once it’s done, start enjoying your chats.

Transferring WhatsApp chats between iPhone and Android

As much as I don’t like saying something is impossible, I have to say this: transferring WhatsApp chats from iPhone to Android, and Android to iPhone is not, possible. At least, not unless you use a third party app whose credibility might be questionable.

Alright, that’s all for now, erm, enjoy your new iPhone.
